Internal Carotid Artery Anatomy

The carotid artery arises both directly and indirectly from the arch of the aorta depending on which side of the body it belongs to. It supplies structures present in the cranial cavity and orbit.

They arise from the common carotid arteries where these bifurcate into the internal and external carotid arteries at cervical vertebral level 3 or 4.
